Visa Member
banks issuing EMV cards for the Visa scheme are required to submit
representative personalised samples of the cards to Visa for approval prior
to actual issue. Visa EU and CEMEA now use the Barnes
CPT 3000
EMV PVT (Personalisation Validation Tool) PLUS the new CVT optional test
script pack to test and approve the cards. Visa EU & CEMEA strongly
recommend that members use such tools to pre-test and correct the cards
before submitting them for approval - this saves the effort and time wasted
by sending cards for approval only to have them rejected.
During 2005, Visa EU and CEMEA issued the Visa Card Validation Tool (CVT)
specification to Test Tool suppliers. This specification brings together and
formalises the many and complex magnetic stripe and chip card validation and
acceptance requirements for approval of personalised EMV cards intended for
the Visa scheme in the EU and CEMEA regions. Visa EU & CEMEA now base
Approval on the CVT specification. The Visa CVT script pack option developed
by Barnes for the
CPT 3000
EMV PVT is now available for use by Members to test cards for conformance to
the Visa CVT requirements before submitting the cards to Visa for approval.
